Stormy weather

This was taken at Maraekura on the west coast of the North Island in Taranaki. It was very windy and cold but the spectacular sea made up for it.

I'm a beginner at this photography thing. Any hints, tips, constructive criticism or comments are welcome and appreciated.

@Michael: A very small tweak with contrast to compensate for the compression of Am3. Otherwise...that's just how it was!

Stormy indeed, what a rough sea. I like how the color of the sky is also in the water. Great photo.

My only criticism is 'I WANT to be THERE' gosh it's gorgeous, moody and ah wonderful. And you said it best, it's worth the cold for this majestic view ;)

I like this photo. There's a lot going on and the color tones support the imagery well. If I had to find something to change, I would say that you lose some detail in the foreground shore because it is dark. That could be an Aminus3 issue though. Also have you tried any vignetting? I think that would really look good in this shot. Nice job.

@Henry: Thanks for the comment, Henry. It's probably my favourite from the Taranaki weekend. Weirdly this and the other photo you said was too dark actually look better on my PC at work (gasp shock horror, how can this be?) but generally yes, the dark details get a bit lost when I upload to Am3. I left that bit of dark rock foreground in because I liked the contrast but it is a little too dark. I'm not sure how to fix that. Never thought of vignetting this shot...I'll have a play around though.

Such a worthy site to behold. A scene like this has a way of inspiring a sense of purpose and wiping away the blues. Beautifully captured.
