Nice Cordys, very decorative. Some fans of exotic trees try to grow them here too, not easy with our sometimes hash winters.

@MadScientist: I knew you would know their proper name! :)
The silhouettes of the trees make a good composition.

@António Pires: Thanks Antonio. The day I took this my battery was low and my camera kept switching itself off which made for very hurried shots!
I've never heard of cabbage trees or Cordy's...thanks

@Cheryl: I only know them as cabbage trees, they are native to New Zealand and one of my favourite plants. I love their shape. I knew MS would know their proper name though! : )
Never seen cabbages like that Marg, I like to think of them as palms

@Observing: Yes they look like palms but apparently don't belong to the palm tree family! The common name "cabbage tree" was given by early European settlers in New Zealand who used the inner leaves and stem as a cooked or raw vegetable. Thanks for the visit, Mike.
really nice and well composed

@eddy: Thanks for the visit and comment, Eddy
Very cool; nice silhouette against that subtle lit background. The contrast of the foreground has nice clarity too. Good job.
