@Calusarus: Yes the lichen or whatever it is on the trees was fascinating. Unfortunately I got the exposure (or something!) wrong here so it doesn't show up as much as I would have liked. Thanks for the visit and comment.
I think you'll find your digital camera might not reach the range you wanted for this shot. I usually underexpose shots like this, to save the highlights. You could try bracketed exposure and use photoshop to make a composite image. Or just head out and shoot some film ;-)

@Jason: Oh there you go again...trying to make me open up my camera manual...why don't you guys just move to Auckland? It would be so convenient.
ANYWAY, remember how you discovered the exposure was set at +3 (I think) on my cam? This was one of lord-knows-how-many shots I took with that setting, so I figure that didn't help much!
I do love a good tree shot !!
